  விவசாயிகளின் போராட்டத்தின் முடிவில், மூக்கில் வழியும் ரத்தத்தை துடைத்தபடி, அடுத்த அடக்குமுறைக்கு தயாராகிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது இந்துத்துவ தரப்பு. தொடர்ந்து பலவகையிலும், விவசாயிகளின்  மீது வரலாறு காணாத அடக்குமுறை, பொய்ப்பிரச்சாரம் என்று மாறிமாறி கட்டவிழ்த்தும் மண்ணைக்கவ்விய நிலையில்,  அது தந்த  அதிர்ச்சியில் இருந்து எழுந்து அடுத்த அடக்குமுறைக்கு அது  தயாராகிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. அருஞ்சொல்லில் வெளிவந்த அருணா ராயின் கட்டுரையில் குறிப்பிட்டது போல், சமீபத்தில் ஹைதராபாதில் உள்ள தேசிய காவல் துறை அகாடமியின் பயிற்சி முடிப்பு அணிவகுப்பு நிகழ்ச்சியில் அஜித் தோவல் தன உரையில் சமூக செயல்பாட்டாளர்கள் மீது “நான்காம் தலைமுறைப் போர்" என்று சூசகமாக குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். இதன் விளைவு இன்னும் சிலநாட்களில் தெரியவரும் என எதிர்பார்க்கலாம் . சிலவருடங்களாகவே வெகுஜன வாழ்விலும், சமூக செயல்பாட்டாளர்களின்  மீதும் தொடர்ந்து முன்னெடுக்கப்படும் அடக்குமுறையும், வரலாறு காணாத பொய்ப்  பிரச்சாரங்களும் ஒரு தொடர் நிகழ்வாகவே இருந்துள்ளது. நண்பர் அரவிந்தன் சிலநாட்களுக்கு முன் டிரம்ப்பின் முன்னெடுப்புகளும், அரசியல் செயற்பாடுகளையு

  Travel is something that tests all our limits of theories, learnings and ideas by opening up experiences that challenge and change one's perception, unlike any book.. Travelogues in that sense are always a window to those experiences and can be very interesting at times.   In this Travelogue, Stephen Alter seems to have followed through an emotional thread of tracing his and his spouses roots and in that process has opened up a window that lets us, readers who read it, to a unique and profound viewpoint on subtlety of Pakistan and India relationships.   ஒரு கட்டஞ்சாயாவும் பருப்பு வடையும் சேர்ந்து உண்ணும் சுவை தற்கால தமிழ் நாவுக்கு பழக்கப்பாடாத ஒன்றென்றாலும் , அது கொண்டு வரும் கேரள மண்ணின் வாசமும் சுவையும் , பழகிய பின் , அது உள்ளொடு ஓடும் ஒரு உணர்வாகவே எப்போதும் இருக்கும். அது போன்றதுதான் கேரள இலக்கியங்களும். அதை படிக்கும் தமிழ் வாசகர்களுக்கு அது முதலில் சற்று புரிபடாததாகவும் , எளிதில் பிணைந்து கொள்ள முடியாத கதையோட்டமாகவே இருந்தாலும் , அதன் களமும் , அந்தக் களம் கூடிவரும் மண்வாசனையும் , அதன் மனிதர்களும் பழகியபின் , திரும்பத்திரும்ப நினைவில் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டு ஓடுவது தவிர்க்க முடியாது. அந்த உணர்வை , சுவையை , தமிழ்ப் படுத்த முயற்சிக்கும் போது தான் , அதன் உயிரோட்டம் செத்துப் போய்விடுகிறது. நல்ல வேலையாக அப்படிப்பட்ட எந்த தவறையும் இந்த மொழிபெயர்ப்பாளர் , ஜயசங்கர் மேனன் இங்கு செய்யவில்லை. அதனால் சில நேரங்களில் , மலையாளத்தில் படிப்பது போலவே உணர்வு வருவதும் தவிர்க்க முடியவில்லை. இதை எழுதிய , தம்பி அந்தோணி , தமிழுக்கு முழுதும் அந்நியமல்ல. தமிழில் பல படங்களில் நடித்த பிரபல நடிகர் , பாபு ஆன்டனியின் அண்ணன் என்று சொன்னால் எளிதில் விளங்கும். இவரும்

  “𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐞.”   That is what John Steinbeck, the Iconic American Novelist wrote when he presented the vagaries of the migrant workers in his Pulitzer Prize winning work in 1939, "𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑝𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑊𝑟𝑎𝑡ℎ".   The book raised a storm in California whose backdrop he built the narrative. One County Banned the book for almost one and half year. But that neither stopped Steinbeck from becoming most celebrated writer in the United States nor the book from winning a Pulitzer and talking to the conscience of millions who read it even now.   Steinbeck did not spin it as a fiction out of thin air or Hearsay. He had done a series of trips and followed the lives of the migrant workers early ‘30s and based on which he had written a set of essays released in as “𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐻𝑎𝑟𝑣𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝐺𝑦𝑝𝑠𝑖𝑒𝑠: 𝑂𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑅𝑜𝑎𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑝𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑊𝑟𝑎𝑡ℎ”. Generally Survivor stories have a charm that usually attracts me to them. That is how I landed in this book. This definitely has a charm and keeps you turning the pages. The story is definitely incredible. I am fine with the book and the interest it had gathered in the past considering this definitely as an interesting narration for a fiction, for a specific audience. However, when it is projected as a real life experience, I have certain apprehensions. First of all, what one notices is, this is told with a motive devoid of any personalization of People, Location and their Nativity. Even the Landscapes are glazed over without any particular detail. Intially, it was not that much noticeable when it went over the Siberian Snows, possibly because my connect with the landscape and its people is limited to those books I have read, which is woefully thin. Slowly when it moves across the Mangolian Plain and the Gobi desert, I feel a sense of unease slowly seeping in, as the narration brings p

  90 களின் இறுதியில் தில்லியில் இருந்து வேலையாக , வடநாடு முழுதும் , பயணமாகும் போது , என்னுடன் கூடவே பயணம் செய்யும் புத்தகங்களில் முதன்மையானது கி.ரா.வின் சிறுகதைகளே... மொழியறியா தேசங்களில் , முகமறியா மனிதர்களுடன் , புதுப்புது நிலப்பரப்புகளிலும் கூட , என்னோடு வசித்து , என் வேர்களுக்கு நீர் வார்த்தவை அவர் மொழியும் , அது உயிர்ப்புடன் வைத்திருந்த அந்த கரிசல் மனிதர்களுமே... அந்த அபிமானம் எனக்கு என்றுமே அவர் எழுத்துக்களுக்கு உண்டு... பிறகொரு காலத்தில் அவர் புதுவைக்கு நகர்ந்த பின் அவர் எழுத்துக்கள் , குறிப்பாக சிறுகதைகள் , மாற்றத்திற்கு உள்ளான போது , அந்த நெருக்கம் சற்றே நெகிழ்ந்த போதும் , ஒரு முறை பழகிய அந்த கரிசல் மணம் மாறவே இல்லை. தொடர்ந்து அவர் எழுத்தில் அந்த மணத்தை உலகத்தின் வேறு வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்த போதும் , அனுபவிப்பதும் சற்றும் குறையவில்லை. அந்த வகையில் , அவர் சிறுகதை தொகுதி ஒன்று கிண்டிலில் புதிதாக வந்தபோது , உடனே வாங்கிப் படிக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன். அவர் இலக்கிய வாழ்வின் நெடிய பரப்பில் படைத்து , வேறு வேறு கால கட்டங்களில் வந்த தொகுதிகளில் இருந்து தேர்ந்தெடுத்த 40 சிறுகதைகள் இந்தத் தொகு
